White Is The New King Color For Cars

A recent report indicates what color automotive enthusiasts gravitate toward when buying a new or used car. According to PPG Industries, a leading manufacturer for paint supplies, white is the most popular color that graces the exterior of cars in America.
The report indicates that in North America, 20 percent of vehicles are painted white, overtaking silver as the most popular car color in 2011. In a close second was last year's leader, silver, at 19 percent. Black, gray and red rounded out the top five at 18 percent, 15 percent and 9 percent, respectively. Other common, but slightly less popular, colors were blue, brown, tan, gold, orange and yellow, all of which were tied for sixth place. At 2 percent, green was second to last, as only "niche" colors were less frequent.Click Here!
"Color is one of the most basic means of human expression," said Jane Harrington, PPG manager of color styling and automotive coatings. "The palette of colors being developed for the automotive segment is being influenced by culture, nature, fashion, interior design, media, auto shows, color popularity and new pigment technology."
PPG revealed its findings recently at the annual Automotive Color Trend Show, held at the company's offices in Troy, Michigan.
In addition to detailing what Americans' favorite hues of color on vehicles were, PPG also released the online results of the company's survey of opinions regarding just how important consumers considered a car's color to be in the buying process.
One-third would pay more for a specific color of car
For example, 77 percent said they factored in the exterior color of a car into their purchasing decision. In addition, nearly a third said a vehicle's color was an "important" consideration. In fact, approximately the same percentage said it was so significant that they would be willing to pay extra for a vehicle that had the color they wanted.
"Our consumer research has clearly shown that color is critically important to car buyers," said Harrington. She added that this is why the company devotes so much time and effort to understanding color trends, not only among American car buyers, but worldwide. For example, in Europe, black is by far the most popular color, as 26 percent of vehicles are painted that shade, with white coming in second at 19 percent.
Vehicle color has no effect on auto insurance rates
While color may be an important consideration for car buyers, it's not something taken into account by auto insurance companies.
According to the Insurance Information Institute, one of the biggest myths regarding the things that affect auto insurance premiums is color, as some believe that red cars cost more to insure than white vehicles, for example. But as III indicates, color has no influence on how much insurers charge for premiums. What does have an impact is the type of car that's purchased, specifically its make, model, body type, engine size and the age of the vehicle.

Color poetry project

Hi, my name is Rodrigo Mendes and I am art director from Brazil.
I would like to share with you some posters that I called COLOR POETRY.
As a means to improve my work, I used to spend time researching Adobe
Kuler Website.
Since I've been there, could realize that some people had the
talent to create the themes more than simply beautiful color. Indeed, I used
the topics as a way to communicate their feelings and sensations, such as
poetry. Was amazed with how things were a beautiful translation
by their own names.

So, I decided to start a project called "Color poetry ', to display a
cooperative way.Click Here!
The first thing I did was access to Adobe Kuler website and collect
Some examples of what I call color poetry. Then, I found many
beautiful themes. After this, I did some projects just for fun.
While my own, I realized that I could convert these projects
on a platform calling for others to collaborate on the project
instead of creating my own color themes.
The general idea is to create a collaborative project and to give the
credit to those
which made things so that each plan will be signed by the person who
Who has questions about www.kuler.adobe.com.

I hope you enjoy.

Elements of Spring: Color in the Blog World

Color looms large in March, and with the beginning of spring, the season of budding hues, came rich images and stories on the blogosphere. The colors of note were certainly hot: Neon seemed to be having a moment in the world of interiors. From the scorching pinks highlighted by the The Style Files, to the electric accents in kitchens we spotlighted on Remodelista, bold hues were married with more classic environments. It seems black and white were taking a back seat in the fashion world as well, as Refinery29 reported on ways to mix florescent into one's wardrobe and we noted siren red on the legs of the "color courageous." Indeed, color prevails in the art world. The Daily Imprint highlighted the emerging Australian artist James Ettelson, who incorporates rich pigments into his work in a style that "combines traditional Aboriginal painting techniques with pop art." Moco Loco paid homage to the textual compositions by Swedish artist Matthias Van Arkel, describing one of his turquoise pieces of dyed platinum and silicon rubber to be so vibrant that it "begs to be touched." It seemed the images of Italian photographer Helenio Barbetta had a similar positive effect on viewers, as Desire to Inspire wrote that his shots of interiors and exteriors highlight "everything demanding attention."

While various voices in the design, style and art worlds blogged about their true colors, the gastronomical side of the web was also bursting with hue inspiration. On the cusp of the spring produce bounty, food bloggers were creative with what was still in season: After a trip to Morocco, Heidi Swanson created a recipe for bright yellow Ginger Grapefruit Curd for her blog 101 Cookbooks, while the Smitten Kitten incorporated root vegetables into breakfast for Carrot Cake Pancakes. For the adventurous epicurean looking for an eclectic ambience, Remodelista highlighted a zeitgeist café and an i-Hop-turned-hip-Korean-Fusion restaurant--two dining spots that work color into their décor in unique and adventurous ways.
